We are thrilled to announce an exciting collaboration with GREO to release RG Check accreditation and reaccreditation data for the use of the broader research community. Data, taken from nine years of venue accreditations and reaccreditations from across Canada are available on GREO's data repository, free of charge.
This dataset is a rich source of information that has the potential to contribute to the advancement of research to prevent and mitigate problem gambling. With GREO’s assistance, the data are available to all qualified researchers for further analyses. Future reports using the RG Check data will be posted to GREO’s Evidence Centre, a freely accessible digital collection of research evidence on problem gambling and its related harms.
RG Check data consists of three separate datasets for land-based Canadian casinos:
- Accreditation scores – 9 years of data from 75 different venues
- Patron surveys – 9 years of data from nearly 20,000 surveys between 2011 to 2019
- Employee surveys – 10 years of data from over 800 surveys representing a random sample of one-third of all RG Check employee surveys
The employee survey data was collected to assess awareness and understanding of RG policies, practices, and procedures within a land-based venue. Patron surveys were also used to assess the awareness and understanding of player resources and where to get help within land-based venues. All datasets have been anonymized to ensure there is no identifying information for any survey participant or specific casino venue.
RGC is committed to bridging the knowledge gap and supporting all researchers as they carry out important work that can translate into real world application. This resource for the research community contributes to our overall mission to prevent problem gambling and reduce its impacts.
